Embroidery is pretty flexible when it comes down to what artwork to use. To get the very best results we advise vector format files but if you can’t manage that don’t worry, a JPEG or PNG or similar file format will be just fine.
Size isn’t critical but again, for the best results we advise the artwork is as large as or larger than you require it to be embroidered. This way we can achieve the best possible finish.
Before we start any personalised clothing order we will always send you an on-screen proof to check and approve. PLEASE be careful when approving, as once approved Direct Print is not liable for any mistakes you may have missed.
Once your proofs are approved we will then go on to run an embroidered sample of your logo onto scrap material. This is photographed and emailed by our production team for you to check and approve. If approved your order will go to mass production, however if you have any amendments to be made we can make these and run a new sample. Any amendments after this do have to be charged at £5 each to cover time.
Embroidery costs £5 (exVAT) for a small logo up to 10x10cm and £10 (exVAT) for a large logo up to 30x25cm.
On any designs we think may be over 30,000 stitches we may contact you with a possible surcharge due to the complexity of your design.
Embroidery setup turns your logo on screen into a stitch file. Our expert digitisers plot every stitch carefully and skilfully to create a file that can be read by our state of the art embroidery machines so they know which colour thread goes where... (it’s very complex stuff!)
Our embroidery setup cost is £20 for a logo up to 30x25cm.
Text logo setup is FREE and trade logos such as Gas Safe, NIC EIC etc. we may already have on file so ask before ordering.
For any further queries, please reach out to our friendly team by contacting us.
At Direct Print we take great pride in being ‘print nerds’. We have a wealth of experience in all areas of printing including Screen Print, DTG print and Digital Transfer Printing.
On your order we will use the best method we see fit, however if you have a preferred method, do leave us a note and restrictions allowing, we will do our best to use this method.
For the best results we require a vector file which is normally created in Illustrator or Corel Draw. If you can’t achieve this then send us a high quality file in any of these formats: ai, eps, svg, cdr, png, pdf.
If you are still struggling with the above then we do offer a artwork re-draw service which turns your pixelated artworks into high resolution logos to use time and time again. Prices start from £15 per re-draw and depend on size and complexity. Contact us for more information.
Don’t fret! We always send you an on-screen proof via email to approve before we print anything. This gives you complete peace of mind on print location and size.
Please take extra caution when signing off your proofs as once approved, Direct Print are not liable for any mistakes that you may have missed.
As we briefly touched on above, If you are struggling to supply us with top quality artwork then don’t worry! Our design team can turn your fuzzy and tiny logos into larger, much higher resolution artworks that are perfect for larger formats and printing your personalised clothing. Once complete these files are then yours to keep should you need them for any other promotional materials.
If this is you, then we will have your previous order details and artworks in our system. When submitting your order try and let us know the previous order number we are repeating or give our team a call and explain what you need, they will be more than happy to help.

Always try to save your artwork as a vector.
For the best results in screen print, embroidery, transfer print and DTG we advise you send us editable artwork saved as either: AI, EPS, or PDF files that are usually created in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
If you really can’t send a vector file, try sending us an as big as, or bigger than required, PNG or JPEG, if high enough resolution this could be ok to use.
If your artwork isn’t a vector then please remember to save your artwork at at least 300dpi (300 dots per inch) this ensures the best possible resolution and ultimately the best possible finish.
Don’t sweat, send us whatever you can and our designers can recreate your artwork from as little as £15 + VAT. Contact sales@directprintuk.co.uk with your designs and we will send a quote back for you to approve.
When you place an order with us our expert team will then turn your logo into artwork that is perfect for either print or embroidery… But how do they do it?
Print = We turn your artwork into a vector format and resize it so it is perfect for print.
Screenprint = Once vectorised and sized perfectly, we create a stencil that then has ink loaded into it and your design is screen printed onto your chosen garments which are then sent down a huge dryer to cure into the garment for a long lasting finish.
Embroidery = Our team digitise your logo which tells our machines which stitches and thread colours should go where
